KABUL (Pajhwok): Air raid sirens in Tel Aviv sent US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rushing into a bunker.
The two leaders had to hide for five minutes in the bunker amid air raid sirens during their meeting in the Israeli capital on Monday, a State Department spokesman said.
Reuters quoted Matthew Miller as saying Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Netanyahu and other participants later came out of the bunker and resumed their meeting.
After the huddle, the report said, they went to a command centre at the defense ministry in Tel Aviv to continue their talks, the spokesman added.
As Israeli airstrikes on Hamas targets continue in Gaza, US President Joe Biden is expected to the region on Wednesday (tomorrow).
After wrapping up discussions in Tel Aviv, the secretary of state confirmed on Tuesday Biden would travel to Israel for talks on de- escalating the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
