Thousands of farmers receive seed, fertilizer in Logar

PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): Thousands of farmers have been distributed improved quality wheat seed and chemical fertilizer in central Logar province, an official said on Saturday.

Logar Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock director Maulvi Sayed Amin Hashimi told Pajhwok that 8,000 farmers received the aid in Pul-i-ALam and districts including Mohammad Agha, Baraki Barak, Charkh, Kharwar, Khoshi and Azra.

Each farmer was given 50kg of improved wheat seed, two 50kg of sacks of black and white urea.

Hashimi said the aid would help farmers and improve cultivation of wheat.

Logar govenor Maulvi Zia Rahman Madani addressed a gathering marking the distribution of improved seeds and fertilizer to farmers.

He called on the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations to provide more assistance to farmers and livestock owners of Logar province.
