Use of foreign currencies completely banned: Governor

TIRINKOT (Pajhwok): Individuals creating hurdles in the way of local currency promotion campaign in central Uruzgan province would be punished and their properties would be confiscated, an official said on Sunday.

Uruzgan Governor Maulvi Mohammad Ali Jan Ahmad said this while addressing the gathering of district chiefs and other officials.

He added the provincial administration give awareness to the people regarding the use of local currency for six months and now was the time that this process should be completed.

The governor said from today (Sunday) the use of rupee and other foreign currencies is strictly banned.

He warned, if anyone violated this order, their assets will be confiscated the accused will be introduced to judicial authorities for punishment.

He said: “Besides common people this order will be implemented on the officials and other security personnel of the government as well.”

The committee from the prevention of the land grabbing is offered complete authority to impose its orders on other administrations, the governor concluded.

All the civil and security personnel are responsible to prevent land usurpation.

He has also advised the officials to deal legally with the usurpers of the land.

The governor warned local officials if any of their employees converted their salaries to rupees and purchases goods his supervisor would be held answerable.
