MAIMANA (Pajhwok): A fire broke out at a high school in the Garziwan district of northern Faryab province. All equipment and documents were burnt.
Syed Abdul Basit, deputy head of financial and administrative affairs at the Education Department, told Pajhwok Afghan News the fire erupted at a boys’ high school late on Sunday.
With the cause of the blaze yet to be ascertained, a worker of the school said he felt gas smell prior to the fire breaking out.
Pictures and video clips released by residents showed no firefighters or others trying to extinguish the blaze.
Shamsullah, an area resident, asked the government to find out the cause of the blaze and punish perpetrators.
