Devotee killed, shrine guard injured in Nangarhar clash

KABUL (Pajhwok): One person was killed and another wounded as a result of an armed clash in Sara Rud district of eastern Nangarhar province, officials said on Tuesday.

The clash between a guard of a shrine and a devotee took place Monday afternoon.

Police spokesman Abdul Basir Zabuli told Pajhwok Afghan News the two persons first verbally clashed and then the guard of Pir Sahib shrine opened fire and killed the devotee, but he was also wounded in the clash.

A resident of the area told Pajhwok on condition of anonymity that the devotee wanted to enter the shrine, but the guard did not allow him.
