KABUL (Pajhwok): The Refugee and Repatriation minister says a lot of aid is announced for Afghanistan, but has no fruitful result as it is spent on administrative expenses of organizations and unnecessary projects.
Khalil Rahman Haqqani said this during a meeting with Sarah, EU development aid head for central Asia and the delegation accompanying her, the Ministry of Refugee and Repatriation said in a statement.
It said the meeting discussed problems of Afghan refugees and people displaced by recent earthquakes in western Herat province.
Sarah said: “The European Community has announced 4.5 million euro aid for Herat earthquake victims and has signed an agreement with the International Organization for Migration for 15 million euro for the returnees. We are ready to come and we will never leave Afghans alone.”
For his part Haqqani said a lot of aid was announced for Afghanistan, but its fruitful result was not visible as most of the aid was spent on administrative expenses of organizations and on unnecessary projects.
He added the aid should be spent on constructing permanent shelters, clinics, schools and other basic projects for refugees to bring about a positive change in people’s lives.
