PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): The reconstruction works survey of a water dam in the Kharwar district of central Logar province has been completed and work at the cost of 100 million afs would be started in the near future, an official said on Tuesday.
The dam damaged due to the past conflicts and heavy rainfall and flash floods.
Rafiullah Samim, the Information and Cultural Affairs head, told Pajhwok Afghan News the dam’s survey had been completed and its reconstruction work would be soon started by the Ministry of Energy and Water.
Total 100 million afs would be spent on the reconstruction work of the dam, he added.
Abdullah, the resident of locality, said the Kharwar dam was damaged during past conflict, and flash floods and hundreds of hectares of land would be irrigated upon its reconstruction work completion.
Another tribal elder Haji Abdul Sattar said lands around the Kharwar dam had been usurped by powerful individuals and government should take steps for its recovery.
The Kharwar District dam was constructed during Former King’s Zahir Shah’s regime which now in deteriorated condition due to conflict and natural disasters.
