KABUL (Pajhwok): Education activist Matiullah Wesa was released from prison on Thursday after seven months.
Wesa was arrested seven months ago in Khoshal Khan area of Kabul and spent 215 days in prison, Pen Path group wrote on its X page.
His brother Attaullah also confirmed Wesa’s release.
At the time of his arrest, Islamic Emirate spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid had said Wesa was arrested for his arbitrary activities and because he held meetings and had some incitements against the regime.
Wesa’s arrest sparked widespread reactions on national and international levels.
