KABUL (Pajhwok): The Afghanistan Railway Authority (ARA) chief urged Astrakhan Forum participants to invest in the trans-Afghan project.
Afghanistan wanted to play the role of a corridor connecting the north and south, considering its valuable geographical location, he said.
A statement from ARA said its chief Bakht Rahman Sharafat issued the call in his speech to the Astrakhan Forum in Russia.
Sharafat said Afghanistan, as a member of SAARC and ECO and given its strategic location, desired to serve as a rail link between the north and south.
He also briefed the forum on the Afghanistan Railway Authority and urged them to invest in ARA projects.
The Astrakhan Forum is aimed to further speed up the transportation of commercial goods between North and South Asia and ensure facilities in this regard.
The Afghan delegation is scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with representatives of different countries on the sidelines of the gathering.
