KUNDUZ CITY (Pajhwok): A carpentry market and a private hospital burned to ashes in a fire incident in Kunduz City, the capital of northern Kunduz province.
Kunduz Fire Brigade Head Qari Ahmad Khalid Khalid told Pajhwok Afghan News the fire erupted at around 1:49 am last night in a carpentry market of Kunduz City’s 1st Police District.
“It was around 1:49 in the night that we were informed that the hospital, including the carpentry market, was on fire, the fire was very strong, our personnel arrived as soon as possible and extinguished the fire.”
Erfanullah, an eye witnessed, said: “If the fire bridge personnel did not reach on time the fire could expand to the nearby houses as well, even now people suffered losses and the hospital has been burned as well.”
Hospital Owner Rohullah Niyazi said authorities should remover shops and markets away from the city that could become the cause of fire.
