Orphanage worth $180,000 opens in Ghazni’s Andar district

GHAZNI (Pajhwok): Funded by a Turkish charity, an orphanage has been constructed at a cost of 180,000 US dollars to provide religious and modern education to orphaned children in Andar district of southern Ghazni province.

Governor Hafiz Mohammad Amin Omari told reporters the orphanage named after Shaheed Abu Yusuf was constructed on more than half an acres of land and the two-storey building has 20 teaching and accommodation rooms.

He said 600 orphans will be accommodated in the orphanage and they would be given food and shelter by the Istanbul-based Federation of Humanitarian Associations (IDDEF).

He added the orphanage was for both boys and girls, but has no facilities for sports and health and if the area people provided land, all such facilities will be provided.

Turkey has already provided assistance to the people of Ghazni in various fields — a process still ongoing.

Last week, the foundation stone of an orphanage was laid by a Turkish organization and the facility in Qarabagh district will cost 30 million afghanis.
