PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Two returning Afghan refugees have been killed and 25 others wounded in an accident in Pakistan’s Punjab province.
A Peshawar-bound trailer carrying Afghan refugees and their belongings overturned near the Hattian area of Attock district on Sunday.
Police and hospital officials said the trailer carrying five Afghan refugee families was on its way to Afghanistan via Peshawar.
As the driver lost control, the speeding vehicle overturned after hitting the overhead bridge, wounding several men, women and children.
Two people, including a woman, were killed on the spot while 25 others were injured, rescuers said, adding the casualties were evacuated to a local hospital.
Four of the seriously injured individuals were referred to a Rawalpindi hospital. A large number of people rushed to the hospital following a blood donation appeal.
