KABUL (Pajhwok): Tokyo wants to extend Nakamura’s projects to other provinces of Afghanistan, the Japanese ambassador in Kabul says.
At a meeting with the acting minister of vice and virtue here, the ambassador announced extension of the projects initiated by the late head of PMS Welfare Organisation.
Tetsu Nakamura was killed in an attack in eastern Nangarhar province in 2019. He had served for 25 years in the country and implemented multiple agricultural development projects in Shiva, Dara Noor, Kama and Behsud districts.
A statement from the Vice and Virtue Ministry said Sheikh Mohammad Khalid Hanafi met new Japanese Ambassador Takayushi Kormaya on Sunday.
Hanafi urged Kormaya to continue the development projects launched by Nakamura and hoped for stronger relations between the two countries.
Kormaya assured his interlocutor of Japan’s cooperation in the field of reconstruction and said the Nakamura projects would be extended to other provinces as well.
The ambassador praised efforts by the Islamic Emirate against the drugs and said his country would implement development projects in Afghanistan.
