KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Defense has announced providing 36.5 million afghanis to construct houses for the survivors of recent devastating earthquakes in western Herat province.
The State Ministry of Natural Disaster Management has said that the earthquakes killed and wounded more than 4,000 people and partially or completely damaged many houses in Zinda Jan and Ghorian districts.
Two weeks ago, the authorities said they had started constructing 2,146 houses for earthquake-affected people in Zinda Jan district.
The MoD in a statement said it contributed 36.5 million afghanis to the commission tasked with addressing the problems of quake-affected people in Herat.
The ministry had previously provided 10 million afghanis for the survivors.
