KABUL (Pajhwok): Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar has been entrusted with the leadership of the National Standards Council (NSC) besides his other duties.
“The National Standards Council was created based on order 2083 of the Prime Minister office and Deputy Prime Minister Mullah Baradar was appointed its head along with other responsibilities,” Baradar’s office wrote on X handle.
The NSC is created to discharge activities such as preventing the import of substandard goods, approving strategies and general polices of the National Standard Authority.
The council will approve national standards and national building codes and norms and prevent arbitrary constructions in the country.
According to the deputy PM office, ministers of agriculture, higher education, urban development, public works, public health, commerce and industry, telecommunication, mines and petroleum, transportation, finance and heads of Academy of Sciences, environment protection agency, Kabul municipality, general directorate of municipalities, board of directors of Afghanistan chamber of commerce, mines and industries are permanent members of the council.
The NSC secretariat is under ANSA responsibility.
