KABUL (Pajhwok): Over 120,000 repatriates who have returned or deported from Pakistan have benefited from the services of committees set up by the High Commission to address refugees’ issues, according to the Ministry of Refugee and Repatriation (MoRR) on Sunday.

The MoRR published a report in which it said over 120,000 deported repatriates by November 4 benefited from the services of different committees of the government High Commission in Torkham, Islam Qala and Spinboldak crossings.

The report said 1,700 families had been transferred to different provinces, around 35,000 people had been registered, biometric and 2,100 families --- 18,200 people had been sent to their places of origin after completion of the required process and examination of their documents.

7,500 families provided free SIM Cards and 8,240 people provided basic health services.

The report said 150 missing children had been recovered and returned to their families while 53 new babies had been born in camps and health services provided to them.

In order to attract support officials of the committees held meetings with Turkish, Japanes diplomats and heads of the 370 aid providing organisations. Turkish Ambassador assured the provision of 20,000 tents in the near future.

The report said that assigned committees started work on digging well and construction of 40 toilets in Spinboldak crossing.

Over 10,000 people have been provided cooked food and 307 families --- 2,138 people --- had been transferred to the places of origin.

Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesperson of the ‘Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’ (IEA), who closely observed the situation in Spinboldak, said until now 150,000 refugees have returned to the country so far via Torkham and Spinboldak.

He was satisfied with the operation of Commission and said things were moving smoothly.
