KABUL (Pajhwok): Deputy Prime Minister for the Economic Affairs Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar and Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian have discussed cooperation in different spheres.
In a statement his office said that Baradar and the delegation accompanying him met Abdollahian on cooperation in political, economic, educational, cultural and other in Tehran, the capital of Iran, on Sunday.
Baradar offered a comprehensive overview of trade and transit expansion plans with Iran, the establishment of a technical committees to facilitate cooperation across various sectors, Afghanistan's engagement with regional and global partners through Iran.
Increased trade opportunities, investment prospects for Iranian investors in Afghanistan, streamlining visa issuance for Afghan citizens and addressing the challenges faced by Afghan refugees in Iran also came up for discussion, the statement said.
The deputy premier underlined the historical friendship and ties between Afghanistan and Iran. He also highlighted the positive political, economic, and cultural connections between the two nations.
He added Afghanistan wanted to boost its exports and imports through Iran and urged the provision of necessary facilities in this regard.
For his part, Abdollahian pledged to work for the enhancement of bilateral trade, provision of the necessary transit facilities, establish committees for joint initiatives in diverse sectors and resolve refugee-related issues.
He also expressed his encouragement for Iranian investors to engage in Afghanistan and affirmed that relevant authorities would collaborate on these matters, the statement said.
Both sides agreed to accelerate the construction of the Wakhan corridor and the use of this route by both sides They believed the route was for the benefit of both countries.
