KABUL (Pajhwok): The acting interior minister says the honor of Afghans is preserved in their country, but refugees’ forced deportations by the Pakistan government are against international laws and norms.
Sirajuddin Haqqani made the remarks during his visit to the Torkham crossing, where he assessed the situation of returning families.
The Ministry of Interior wrote on its X handle that Haqqani and the delegation accompanying him welcomed the returnees in Torkham on Wednesday.
He criticised the government of Pakistan for the forcible repulsion of Afghan refugees as an act against international norms.
Haqqani commented: “The honour of Afghans is safe in their homeland and it is good that they are returning today instead of tomorrow for the purpose of building their country.”
The acting minister cited the responsibility of the Islamic Emirate towards the returning families.
According to the statement, the businessmen accompanying Haqqani announced nearly 20 million afghanis in aid for the returnees.
