Driver killed as tractor hits landmine in Kandahar

KANDAHAR CITY (Pajhwok): One person has been killed as a result of landmine explosion in the Maiwand district of southern Kandahar province, an official said on Thursday.

Police spokesman Hafiz Sabir told Pajhwok Afghan News the incident took place in Akhtari area of the district on Wednesday evening.

He said the explosion happened after a tractor struck the landmine, killing the driver. The police spokesman did not provide more details.
