KABUL (Pajhwok): Uzbekistan says it is ready to repair the Hairatan-Mazar-i-Sharif railroad in a standard manner in a shorter time and at a discounted cost.
Afghanistan Railway Authority (ARA) Director Mullah Bakht Rahman Sharafat won this assurance from his Uzbek counterpart at a meeting in Hairatan.
ARA quoted Sharafat as saying that Uzbekistan wanted to restore damaged parts of the Hairatan-Mazar-i-Sharif railway line.
Narzullaev Zufar Giyasovich of the Uzbekistan Railways said they were ready to repair the track in a short time and at a reasonable cost.
Giyasovich said: “In line with special instructions from Uzbekistan’s president and considering our good ties with Afghanistan, we are doing the restoration at a 50 percent discount.”
Both sides decided to strive to carry out the project in short time so that the restoration work did not delay the transportation of goods.
