KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) has issued some guidelines to property dealers about giving houses to returning Afghan refugees on rent and has asked them to avoid extorting the returnees or face legal action.
MoJ in a statement on Sunday said: “The Ministry of Justice has recently discovered complaints that indicate some property dealer are taking advantage of the urgency of refugees returning from neighboring countries and are demanding exorbitant house rent from them.”
It asked all property dealers to help destitute returnees and charge nominal rent and warned of them legal and principled action in case of violations.
“We also request our compatriots who rent out their properties to cooperate with the returning migrants and rent their properties to them at a reasonable price to fulfill their religious and moral responsibility.”
The statement further said the people could inform the Ministry of Justice on phone in case of observing violations by property dealers so that necessary action could be taken.
