KABUL (Pajhwok): Da Afghanistan Breshna Shirkat says two power projects related to Afghanistan have received the prestigious Asian Power Award.
DABS spokesman Hekmatullah Maiwand told Pajhwok Afghan News that Afghanistan received the global award along with two other countries in the category of domestic electricity (solar, gas and thermal) for two gas and solar power projects.
He said the event of Asian Power Award, dubbed as “the Oscars” of the power industry, was held on Nov. 9 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
He added the two projects included Bayat Power’s groundbreaking Shiberghan gas-fired mobile power turbine with a capacity of 40 megawatts and Kandahar solar power project with a capacity of 15 megawatts.
Maiwand said: "At the event, 11 projects at Asia level and some other countries were announced winners, of which two projects are related to Afghanistan."
According to him, one of the criteria for selecting projects is that these 11 selected projects are currently being used in the respective countries.
He said the annual Asian Power Awards recognizes ground-breaking projects and trailblazing initiatives in the power sector in Asia.
