KABUL (Pajhwok): More than 7,000 Afghan refugees returned to the country from Iran and Pakistan yesterday, the Ministry of Refugee and Repatriation (MoRR) said on Wednesday.
MoRR wrote on its X handle about 677 families, comprising 5,505 individuals, returned to the country through Torkham and Spin Boldak crossings on Tuesday.
Separately, about 2,730 Afghan refugees returned to the country voluntarily and forcibly from neighboring Iran the same day.
It said the returnees also included five prisoners who had been released from jails in Pakistan.
Each family was given 10,000 afghanis by the government.
The returnees were also introduced to the International Organization for Migration (IOM) for further assistance, the ministry said.
