PARAKH (Pajhwok): The Mines and Petroleum Department in central Panjsher province has identified 40 more emerald mines in Pariyan district, with the number of such mines in the province reaching 1,250.
Mohammad Qasim Amir, director of Mines Department, told Pajhwok Afghan News that engineers of the department had identified 40 mines and anyone having license from the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum would be able to extract the mineral.
According to him, preliminary research shows emerald mines exist in 10 areas of Dara district and a team of engineers has sent samples of its stones to MoMP for identification.
The total number of registered emerald mines in Pajsher reaches 1,250, in which 350 mines are being extracted, engaging more than 7,000 workers.
