Fuel, gold prices down in Kabul

KABUL (Pajhwok): The afghani appreciated against the US dollar and the prices of gold, Pakistani rice and fuel decreased, but the rates of sugar increased during the outgoing week in Kabul, market sources said on Saturday.

Haji Hussain, owner of Sadaqat Money Exchange Service, said one US dollar traded at 69.20afs and 1,000 Pakistani rupees at 235afs against their last week’s rates of 70afs and 240afs respectively.

Fuel price

A worker at Ahmadyar Group of Pump Stations said the price of one litre of petrol decreased from 76afs to 71afs, and cost of diesel dropped from 67afs to 62afs.

Mohammad Sharif, a liquefied gas seller in Kalola Pushta locality, said the price of one kilogram gas decreased from 60afs to 54afs.

Rates of food items

Zmarai Safi, head of the Food Traders Association, said with the decrease in the value of US dollar against afghani, the price of 24-kilogram of Pakistani rice declined from 2,650afs to 2,600afs.

According to him, the price of fuel has decreased and the rate of other essential items has remained unchanged.

Safi said that 49-kilograms of Kazakhstani flour cost 1,700afs, 16-litre tin of Malaysian cooking oil 1,400afs, a kilogram of African black tea accounted for 400afs and the same amount of Indonesian green tea 350afs.

Hamid Sufizada, a retailer at Dahna-i-Bagh Market, said the retail price of a 49-kilogram bag of Kazakh flour was 1,750afs, a 24-kg bag of Pakistani rice 2,650afs and a 49-kg sack of Indian sugar 3,400afs.

Also, a 16-litre bottle of cooking oil accounted for 1,450afs, one kilogram of black tea 450afs and the same quantity of green tea for 400afs.

Gold price

Mohammad Fawad, a jeweler in Timor Shahi area, said the price of one gram of Arabian gold decreased from 3,850afs to 3,750afs and the same amount of Russian variety from 3,000afs to 2,900afs.
