KABUL (Pajhwok): Japan’s Deputy Ambassador Takayo Tanimoto says his country remains committed to completing its unfinished uplifts projects in Afghanistan.

The Presidential Palace wrote on its X handle the head of the deputy prime minister’soffice, Maulvi Zakir, met the Japanese deputy ambassador and the delegation accompanying him.

Tanimoto promised his country’s continued assistance to Afghans and added Japan stayed committed to completing its unfinished projects.

Without giving details, he also announced the launch of some new development projects by Japan in Afghanistan.

He praised efforts by the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) for combating narcotics and ensuring security in the country. He pledged to share such facts about IEA with the world.

For his part, Maulvi Zakir said IEA needed more assistance from Japan in education, health and infrastructure sectors.

He described the activity of the Japanese Embassy in Kabul as important, saying IEA wanted positive interaction and strong relations with the whole world.

Earlier, Japanese Ambassador Takayushi Kormaya had indicated his desire to extend Nakamura’s projects to other provinces of Afghanistan.

Tetsu Nakamura was killed in an attack in eastern Nangarhar province in 2019. He had served for 25 years in the country and implemented multiple agricultural development projects in Shiva, Dara Noor, Kama and Behsud districts.
