KABUL (Pajhwok): The afghani appreciated against the US dollar and the prices of fuel, rice and Indian sugar increased during the outgoing week in Kabul, market sources said on Saturday.
Haji Hussain, owner of Sadaqat Money Exchange Service, said one US dollar traded at 70.80afs and 1,000 Pakistani rupees at 240afs against their last week’s rates of 69.20afs and 235afs respectively.
Fuel prices up
A worker at Ahmadyar Group of Pump Stations said the price of one litre of petrol increased from 71afs to 73afs and diesel from 62afs to 63afs.
Mohammad Sharif, a liquefied gas seller in Kalola Pushta locality, said the price of one kilogram of the commodity increased from 54afs to 56afs increased.
Rates of food items
Zmarai Safi, head of the Food Traders Association, said the rate 24-kilogram of Pakistani rice jumped from 2,600afs to 2,650afs and a 49-kilogram bag Indian sugar increased from 3,350afs to 3,400afs.
Safi said 49-kilogarm bag of Kazakhstani flour cost 1,700afs, a 16-litre tin of Malaysian cooking oil sold for 1,400afs, a kilogram of African black tea accounted for 400afs and the same amount of Indonesian green tea 350afs.
Hamid Sufizada, a retailer at Dahna-i-Bagh Market, said the retail price of a 49-kilogram bag of Kazakh flour was 1,750afs, a 24-kg bag of Pakistani rice 2,700afs and a 49-kg sack of Indian sugar 3,450afs.
Also, a 16-litre bottle of cooking oil accounted for 1,450afs, one kilogram of black tea 450afs and the same quantity of green tea for 400afs.
Gold price
Mohammad Fawad, a jeweler in Timor Shahi area, said the price of one gram of Arabian gold remained unchanged at 3,750afs and the same amount of Russian variety 2,900afs.
