School building being constructed in Farah

FARAH CITY (Pajhwok): Construction work on a school building has been launched in Farah city, the capital of western Farah province, an official said on Tuesday.

Maulvi Akhtar Mohammad, Farah education director, said the school building in Barngot area of the provincial capital would cost at 350,000 US dollars to be paid by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).

The two storey building would take nine months to complete and would have facilities and capacity for 2,000 students.

On the other hand, local residents welcomed the development.

Mohammad Israel, a tribal elder of Barangot village, said: “Children of the area are attending classes under the open sky and the building will resolve this problem.”
