MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): Construction work has been launched on a kilometer long road in Mazar-i-Sharif, the capital of northern Balkh province.
Balkh Mayor Mohammad Kazim Tariq told Pajhwok the road would cost more than 11 million afghanis and would be completed within four months.
He said the seven-meter wide road in the fourth security district of Mazar-i-Sharif would consume 11.42 million afghanis.
Abdul Latif, a resident of Karta Zahiruddin Faryabi area where the road is being built, said the road’s construction would solve many problems currently being faced by local people.
He said local residents were facing many problems due to the rundown condition of the road.
Work on another road that is estimated to cost 43 million afghanis has been started in the first security district of Mazar-i-Sharif.
