KABUL (Pajhwok): Japan has announced $58.4 million in additional assistance to Afghanistan to help meet the country’s humanitarian and basic needs.

The embassy of Japan in Kabul wrote on its X handle: “Pleased to announce that @JapanGov has decided additional 58.4 million USD assistance for Afghanistan to ensure providing humanitarian and basic needs assistance.”

The embassy hoped the fresh assistance would help sustain and improve lives of Afghan people with dignity and self-reliance.

“We will deliver the assistance through partners such as the UN agencies, int’l organizations and Japanese NGOs.

“With the upcoming 58.4 M USD, the cumulative Japanese contributions to AFG since August 2021 will amount to 447 M USD,” the embassy added.
