CHARIKAR (Pajhwok): More than 600 people have been arrested on charges of various crimes during in the past six months in central Parwan province.
In a statement, police said these people have been detained on charges of murder, theft, gambling, smuggling, drug trafficking, corruption and disrupting security.
The police statement said: "From the arrested persons, one rocket launcher, 12 pistols, four anti-personnel landmines, one sticky bomb, six rocket projectiles, 35 different types of inactive ammunition, 12 Kalashnikov assault rifles, one hunting rifle, 18 various types of car equipment, four motorcycle equipment, 1,600 US dollars, five mobile phones, 94 kilograms of various narcotics, 16,800cc of alcoholic beverages and 26,460 tablet K have been recovered”.
According to police, 488 people were arrested in connection with 331 cases, 37 suspects were arrested by anti-terrorism squad and 80 suspects were also arrested by members anti-narcotics police.
In the last six months, 12 acres of land was cleared of poppy crop in Parwan and 850 drug addicts were collected from the provincial capital and districts and handed them over to health centers for treatment.
