Poetry contest held in Logar in Gawhari’s memory

PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): A poetry contest was organized by the provincial Information and Culture Department in the memory of late poet and writer Mullah Dur Muhammad Gawhari in central Logar province.

Dozens of poets, writers and poetry lovers participated in the contest.

Information and Culture director Rafiullah Samim praised Ghawhari’s cultural and literary services and said Ghawhari’s efforts at uniting the people through his poetic verses and writings were unprecedented.

Cultural activist Esmatullah Momand said Ghawhari dedicated his life to solving people’s problems and uniting them.

In the contest, poets narrated their poetries to the event participants.

Ghawhari was a resident of Ibrahim Khel village of Baraki Barak district. He died of an illness at the age of 68 and left behind about 15 published and unpublished works.
