KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Energy and Water (MoEW) says efforts are underway to allocate funds for the Gulbahar-Panjsher water dam whose construction will be launched in the near future.
Acting Minister Abdul Latif Mansour and a delegation accompanying him visited the Gulbahar-Panjsher dam, MoE&W said in a statement.
Mansour said efforts were ongoing to allocate financing for the project, o which work would be initiated in the near future.
In addition to better water management and power generation, the dam will also help resolve the land-related issues in Parwan and Kapisa provinces.
The project would also play a constructive role in supplying drinking water to residents of Kabul province, the minister explained.
According to MoEW, the dam will have the capacity to store 490 million cubic metres of water and generate 116 megawatts of electricity.
