Afghanistan, Turkmenistan to renew power supply contact for 2024

KABUL (Pajhwok): Afghanistan and Turkmenistan officials emphasized on the improvement of bilateral cooperation in area of electricity, saying the power supply agreement will be extended for 2024.

The Ministry of Energy and Water (MoEW) wrote on its X handle that the Acting Minister, Mullah Abdul Latif Mansour, met with the Director of International Energy Projects of Turkmenistan Murad Artikov.

According to the source, both sides discussed and exchanged views about the TOP regional project, the power transmission lines projects and the Noor Al-Jihad substance project.

Mullah Mansour said that many investors were keen to implement the project of the 500 KV power transmission line of the Turkmenistan-Shiberghan-Khwja Alwan desert.

Artikov also showed readiness to implement the TOP global project and other power supply projects in Afghanistan.

He said the purpose of his visit to Kabul was to extend the electricity agreement between the two countries and to develop bilateral cooperation between the two sides.

Meanwhile, the Da Afghanistan Breshna Shirkhat published on X page that the head of power utility Mullah Mohammad Hanif Hamza met with Murad Artikov.

It said that the delegation of Turkmenistan invited the leadership of DABS to visit Ashqabat to sing the electricity agreement for year 2024.
