KABUL (Pajhwok): The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has delivered winter kits with blankets to thousands of detainees in Afghanistan.
On its X handle, the ICRC wrote: “As winter approaches, we are stepping up our efforts to ensure that detainees are not left out in the cold.”
It said: “The @ICRCaims to ensure humane treatment for all detainees, regardless of the reasons for their detention.”
The international humanitarian organisation said it delivered 17,804 winter kits with blankets, patous and socks,” it added.
However, the ICRC did not name the prisons where the aid was distributed to inmates.
