Kabul: Thousands protest Israeli attacks on Gaza

KABUL (Pajhwok): A protest has been staged in Kabul against relentless Israeli attacks in Gaza, calling for an immediate halt to the massacre of Palestinians.

After Friday prayers, thousands of people gathered at the Wazir Akbar Khan mosque, carrying Palestinian and Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) flags.

Chanting “Long live the people of Palestine and death to Israel”, the protestors denounced aggression against innocent civilians.

Mosque leader Maulvi Mohammad Mohsin Mohammadi slammed Jews and Christians as the enemies of Muslims.

“We have gathered here to send our message to America, Israel and their backers that they will never achieve their goals.”

He God would soon bless Palestinians with victory. “If we cannot go there to fight, we should pray for them and send reinforcements.” He called on Islamic countries to support their Palestinian brothers.

Syed Abdul Saboor, a resident of Kabul, told Pajhwok Afghan News he wanted to support Palestinians and condemn Israel's barbaric strikes.

He asked the Islamic nations to wake up and reach out to the oppressed people of Palestine.

Amid stringent security arrangements, the protesters torched the flags of America and Israel.

Since the beginning of the Gaza war on October 7, more than 171,000 Palestinians have lost their lives in attacks by Israeli forces. Reports say 1,500 Israeli people have also been killed.
