KABUL (Pajhwok): UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Afghanistan Richard Bennett has welcomed the release of Neda Parwani and Zholia Parsi and demanded the release of remaining rights activists and journalists.
On his Twitter handle, Bennett said: “I welcome the release of Neda Parwani, Zholia Parsi and their family members. They should never have been imprisoned. I continue to urge the immediate release of #Afghanistan HRDs, NGO workers, journalists and others who are arbitrarily detained for standing up for human rights.”
According to reports Neda Parwani was arrested on September 18th and Zholia Parsi on 27th this year in capital Kabul.
Some media outlets reported that Zholia was released on Monday and other reports said that Neda along with her husband released few days earlier.
