KABUL (Pajhwok): Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) officials on Thursday underlined the importance of national unity during a graduation ceremony at Kabul University, saying religious and scientific education is interlinked.

They said all problems could be solved by accepting each other and fulfilling the nation’s needs and demands will take time.

The officials made these remarks at a graduation ceremony of students at Kabul University who graduated in 1402 solar year.

They said the the government of IEA was committed to providing employment opportunities to the graduated students while 2,500 positions have been already allocated for them.

Acting interior minister Sirajuddin Haqqani told the participants of the ceremony that students studying scientific and religious subjects should not think they were different from each other. He said facilities have been offered to seminaries what students of universities enjoyed.

“We must take advantages of our freedom to make this country self-sufficient, we must not miss any opportunity”, he said.

Haqqani added: “What you need and what I need, fulfilling them takes time, to address issues, we must accept each other.”

He said: “We must not be disappointed, we are the followers of the same belief, everything will be right slowly, don’t be desperate, Afghanistan will be self-sufficient.”

He said the US was so far reluctant to be a friend of Afghanistan. He said the US should interact with Afghanistan and must remove the names of IEA officials from the black list.

He said: “Interference in our internal issues is unacceptable, we are not a threat to anyone, Afghanistan is moving towards stability.”

Acting higher education minister Sheikh Neda Mohammad Nadeem also said that IEA was committed to higher education.

“The government is implementing what pleases God and is doing away with what the foreigners have imposed here”.

Nadeem said: “Dear youth, the whole world is out to destroy the Muslim ummah, so you must defend your religion and government … we want you to save your thoughts and support this Islamic system with your thoughts.”

Kabul University professor Nasro-Minullah Mujahid asked the government to provide the youth with job opportunities.

To support the government, he proposed consultation with university lecturers.

The acting interior and higher education ministers said 2,500 positions have been allocated for new graduates from universities.

Acting defense minister Maulvi Mohammad Yaqub Mujahid on the occasion said scientific and religious educations were interlinked.

Mujahid said: “Our efforts are to achieve shared goals, as parts of a body, no one must think that we do not need these students, if anyone have such thoughts, these thoughts are false, this regime and community need all.”

“Some people want to bring misfortunes to this country in the name of friendship. They are trying to feed us poison in honey, we must differentiate between our friends and foes”, Mujahid said.

He added: “It is our desire to see all the tribes of this nation sitting around one table, we are working and using all our energy to achieve this goal.”

Mujahid said the government needed consultations with experienced professors.

He said it was necessary to take advice from professors about every decision made in the country and no talent should be wasted.
