ZARANJ (Pajhwok): Iran has freed 52 prisoners from the Al Ghadir prison in Zahidan and handed over to Afghanistan, an official said on Monday.
Mawlavi Yar Mohammad Haqyar, foreign ministry’s representative in Nimroz province, told Pajhwok Afghan News as a result of the Afghanistan’s embassy efforts 52 Afghan prisoners have been freed in 11th phase.
These individuals were detained due to the non-availability of documents and handed over to Afghan officials in Nimroz.
He said earlier in 10 phases 200 Afghans were released and handed over to Afghan officials in Nimroz.
It is pertinent to mention that 680 Afghan prisoners have been freed in 10th phases from Iranian jails.
