KABUL (Pajhwok): A Kabul Medical University teacher, Dr. Abdul Ghaffar Hamdard, has been shot dead in the capital, police said on Thursday.
Police spokesman Khalid Zadran told Pajhwok Afghan News Dt. Hamdard was gunned down inside his clinic at Roshan Hospital in Karta-i-Naw area on Wednesday evening.
He said security forces rushed to the scene and arrested a suspect in connection with the murder. The detainee is currently being interrogated.
Hamdard had previously served as the head of the Maiwand Hospital and had been a member of the academic staff at the Kabul University of Medical Sciences.
His colleague Dr. Abdul Hafeez Hamidzai, meanwhile, expressed profound grief over the killing of Dr. Hamdard. On his Facebook account, he hailed Hamdard as an outstanding teacher and noted skin specialist.
