KABUL (Pajhwok): Afghanistan has exported goods worth 1.9 billion dollars to foreign countries in 2023, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) said on Tuesday.
MoCI spokesman Akhundzada Abdul Salam Jawad told Pajhwok Afghan News the goods were exported to Pakistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan and China.
Despite problems in the reconstruction of the Salang highway, a decrease in coal sales and trade issues with neighbours, he said, there had been a two percent increase in exports, compared to previous years.
He added cotton, fig and apple exports went up last year. Exports to Pakistan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan fell, but trade with India, China and Kazakhstan rose.
Earlier, MoCI said 1.4 million tonnes of coal worth 252 million US dollars had been exported to Pakistan, India, Iran and Turkey in the last 11 months.
