KABUL (Pajhwok): An Islamic Emirate, delegation has attended the 6th session of the Pakistan-Afghanistan Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) in Islamabad.
The Pakistan Afghanistan Joint Committee (PAJC) met in Islamabad on Wednesday, Zabihullah Mujahid, chief spokesman for IEA, wrote on his X handle.
Mullah Mohammad Shirin Akhund, the deputy chief of strategic intelligence at the Ministry of Defence and governor of Kandahar province, led the Afghan delegation.
“The initial focus of the gathering was to address potential conflicts on the Durand Line, the crossing shared by the two countries. Additionally, the committee aimed to establish facilities benefitting the people on both sides,” Mujahid said.
Pakistan Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani, in a meeting with IEA officials, reiterated Islamabad’s commitment to “continued engagement and mutually beneficial ties with Kabul”.
In a post on X, FM Jilani said he had a “productive meeting” with Akhund, according to Dawn.
“Also stressed imperatives of addressing all issues to harness full potential for trade and connectivity,” the foreign minister said.
The Foreign Office said the two exchanged views on key issues of mutual concern, including peace and security, as well as people-to-people contacts.
Representatives from various Afghan government agencies, including the Ministry of Defence and the General Directorate of Intelligence (GDI), were part of the team.
