TIRINKOT (Pajhwok): Police in central Uruzgan province have arrested two persons from a workshop where they modified stolen bikes.
Deputy head of the first police district of Tirinkot city Haji Madad said the detainees were involving in repainting and replacing parts of stolen motorbikes and tricycles in the workshop and would sell them to other people.
Madad told Pajhwok Afghan News today (Saturday) security personnel recovered three motorcycles and parts of dozens of other tricycles and motorbikes from the workshop during an operation.
He said security personnel had so far arrested 16 persons involved in motorcycle theft and recovered 31 stolen motorcycles during the past one month and referred the suspects to judicial authorities.
Tirinkot residents also asked the government to take stern action against thieves.
