SHIBERGHAN (Pajhwok): Eight years old enmity between two families in northern Jawzjan province has come to an end through the mediation of tribal elders, ulema and local officials.
A Jirga convened by the Department of Borders and Tribal Affairs for the reconciliation between the two rival families was attended by the two families, ulemas, elders and local officials.
Mawlavi Ghulam Nabi Samim, head of the Tribal Affairs and Borders Department, said this tribal Jirga was held in the Chahar Goft village of Shiberghan City to end enmity between two rival families.
He added tens of ulema and elders participated in the Jirga. After negotiations between the two sides the year’s long enmity ended.
He added nothing was sweeter then peace and reconciliation and it was the best way to address long standing enmities.
Mawlavi Sediqullah, religious scholar and tribal elder, during the Jirga invited people towards reconciliation and coherence.
He said: “Both sides accepted my excuses and pleas, and this assembly was resolved. Inshallah my mission is to always serve the people and seek people’s welfare, promoting negative things has no value for the people anymore.”
Abdul Khaliq Haqyar, another tribal elder, said enmity and differences were against the public interest and stressed over promoting talks and negotiation to resolve these problems.
He said these two families were engaged in enmity from the past eight years and it created huge problems for them.
“The issue was finally addressed with the help of ulema, elders and ours who came from Shiberghan City and addressed the issue, we reconciled both sides and now their enmity is resolved, Inshallah, in the future both sides would remain peaceful,” he said.
Members of both rival families after reconciliation hugged each other’s and formally put an end to the eight years old enmity.
Dal Naseem Ishaqzai, member of one of the rival family, said: “We had a dispute while led to enmity between us for eight years, but now that elders had come I say nothing, the elders decision is my decision,” he said.
He said: “My cousin Salman was killed by our neighbor Abdul Wahid in Iran, today we have reconciled and ended our enmity, after this we will live a brotherly live and we have no issue now.”
According to local officials it was the ninth dispute resolved by elders through Jirga in Jawzjan.
