AIBAK/ FARAH CITY (Pajhwok): Five development projects have been completed at a cost of 18 million afghanis and put into service in western Farah and northern Samangan provinces, officials said on Tuesday.
Mullah Mohammad Omar Anas, Aibak river basin authority director, told Pajhwok Afghan News three dams were constructed and put into services in Hazrat Sultan and Sarbagh districts of the province.
He said construction work on the dams was started three months ago based on the needs of people and was completed today. The dams cost more than 600,000 afghanis
The dams would help rise underground water level, prevent flash floods and environmental problems, Anas explained. He said about 6,000 families would directly benefit from the schemes.
Separately, construction work was completed on two retaining walls at a cost of ten million afghanis in Bakwa district of Farah province.
The retaining walls were built in Siah Qala and Joy Sefid villages of the district with financial support of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the provincial Information and Culture department said in a statement.
