KABUL (Pajhwok): The process to apply online for passport resumed in capital Kabul on Wednesday and people could obtain the document in a week, the General Directorate of Passport said.
Noorullah Patman, spokesman for the General Directorate of Passport, told Pajhwok Afghan News the process to issue passports online has been launched in Kabul.
He said the directorate received about 20,000 offline applications on Thursday and were given special stickers.
He added the applicants could receive their passports during the time specified in the sticker by visiting the directorate next week. The passports are issued after legal procedures.
“If the citizens cooperate with us and do not create disorder, this process will be extended to other provinces as well, but if people create disorder in this process, there is a possibility that this process will be halted,” Patman explained.
He added in addition to offline forms people should also register through online to get the passport.
Previously getting passport through online forms will take one year.
On the other hand, residents of capital Kabul are happy with the passport directorate for started issuing passports online.
Ahmad, a resident of Kabul, praised the measure and said passport distribution branches should also be increased in Kabul.
Mohammad Sediq, a resident of Kabul, said that he applied for passport through the online system a year ago, but he has not yet received it.
