HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): The construction of a township for earthquake victims has been completed in the Rabat-i-Sangi district of western Herat province, an official said on Thursday.
The township comprised of 36 houses was built with the financial support of Commission which was formed to address the problems of earthquake victims.
These houses were handed over to the affected families of Kosh Rabat and Bagh Zahmat villages in the presence of local officials and members of ulema council.
Mawlavi Ahmadullah Muttaqi, spokesperson for the Commission and head of the Information and Cultural Affairs, said the houses had been constructed by the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) at high standard and strong resistance against earthquake.
He said each house is comprised of two rooms, a bathroom and a kitchen.
On the occasion of keys distribution, Mawlavi Muttaqi said that earthquake victims in the province would be distribution fuel for the winter according to their need.
Some influential persons and members of the ulema council have hailed the IEA efforts for the rehabilitation of earthquake victims.
The residents of Kosh Rabat locality have expressed happiness over the construction of houses for them and demanded more aid in winter.
According to the Commission, over 3,000 houses would be built for the earthquake victims of Herat province, most of these houses were about to completion.
