NEILLI (Pajhwok): The Toofan Shahristan has won the ‘Jami Khazani’ Futsal Championship in central Daikundi province by beating the Jahish Ushturlai team, an official said on Saturday.
Juma Khan Safari from Toofan Shahristan team was recognized as the best player and Sahar Hossein Akbari from Jahish Ushturlai team, Aaqai Gull and Nusrat Qasemi were recognized as the best goalkeepers of this tournament.
Daikundi physical training director Nasser Haqiqat’ said that the Daikundi Football Federation has been recently officially recognized and after this the teams can hold competitions outside the province for the development of sports.
He added, they have more plans for increasing the physical capacity of the athletes in this province.
He added that in the final stage of this tournament, several athletes of the current and former futsal teams participated, including captain Farzad Mahmoudi, was also invited, the tournament ended magnificently in the presence of more than 5,000 spectators.
Mohammad Hussaini, head of Municipality’s Gymnasium, said the tournament was launched for the growth of sports’ talents and the total of 24 teams of this province participated in this tournament.
The tournament was launched by Municipality Gymnasium and Provincial Sports Department on December 6 in Neili city, the provincial capital of central Daikundi province.
The best player of this tournament Juman Khan Safari told Pajhwok Afghan News organizing such competitions could help unearth the pure sports talents that existed among the youth of this province and showcase this talent to the country.
These types of events brought unity, empathy and healthy competition among the youth of the country, he added.
He also called the lack of a standard playground as one of the biggest problems of athletes in this province.
Officials said recently that the interest of young people in football and futsal in Daikundi has increased dramatically.
