KABUL (Pajhwok): The EU ahargé d’Affaires to Afghanistan and the acting interior minister have discussed the upcoming Doha meeting on Afghanistan.
Earlier, the Russian special representative for Afghanistan had suggested a meeting on Afghanistan could be held this month under UN auspices.
The Ministry of Interior wrote on its X handle Sirajuddin Haqqani met EU Chargé d’Affaires Rafaela Iodice.
Without giving details, a statement from MoI said the two sides talked about the meeting to be held in Doha at the end of this month.
Representatives from the countries engaged in Afghanistan will attend the meeting.
She hailed the current security in the country and on behalf of EU and discussed the bloc’s humanitarian aid for the quake-affected people in Herat and returnees.
Haqqani said the government of Afghanistan should be granted membership of important international bodies to be able to represent the country and facilitate the solution of issues.
The interior minister claimed Afghanistan was rapidly moving towards political and economic stability after decades of instability.
After a long time, the Afghans were feeling physical and psychological security, the minister added.
