Terrorist sanctuaries struck in Pakistan, Iran says

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has announced targeting Jaish Al Adal bases on Pakistan’s soil with drones and missiles.

Iran’s state-run Tasnim and Seda Va Sima media outlets reported on Wednesday the attacks were carried out on January 16.

The strikes targeted the sanctuaries of the (Israel-supported) Jaish Al Adal group in the Panjgur area of Baluchistan province.

Iranian authorities claimed the Jaish Al Adl armed group was involved in attacks in Sistan and Baluchistan and other areas to destabilise that country.

Some Pakistani media outlets reported the strikes hit residential areas, killing two children and wounding three girls.

Meanwhile, the Foreign Office in Islamabad harshly reacted to the attacks and summoned the Iranian ambassador to Pakistan.

A statement from FO said the two countries had diplomatic channels and the problem should have been resolved through dialogue.

The statement added two children were killed and three girls injured. The Iranian side, however, has not yet commented commented on the casualties.

The attacks came hard on the heels of a meeting between the Iranian special envoy for Afghanistan and the Pakistani foreign minister in Islamabad.

Pakistan’s Interim Prime Minister Anwar Haq Kakar also met Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian at the World Economic Forum in Switzerland.

IRGC carried out attacks in Iraq and Syria yesterday and claimed destroying ISIS centers there.
